The best fish of the trip was a wahoo that moved into the young season???s top spot. The 76-pound ???skin was caught by Angel on a Fish Trap seven-inch swim bait in white ???glow??? color.
Angel Cruz of San Diego won first place for his 76-pound wahoo. Mike Birmingham of Snelling was second, for a 61.2-pound yellowfin, and Matt Brown, a 22-year-old student (computers and robotics) from San Diego won his first long-range jackpot spot; third place for a 58.4-pound yellowfin tuna.

The best wahoo was caught by young angler Adam Hoit of North Las Vegas, who got his 43.6-pound skin of a black and purple marauder.

Dick Parker of El Segundo won the Seeker Trophy for the best fish on a Seeker; a 39-pound wahoo.

David Bell???s first-place skinny weighed 51.7 pounds on the certified scales. Bob Bell???s wahoo weighed 47 pounds. Bob is from Corona. Larry Rosebaum of Riverside won third place, for 34.2-pound wahoo.

Mike Stout of Huntington Beach got the winner, a husky 65-pounder. Stout also got a 54.8-pound skin, also on a mackerel, and it won second place. Brother Milton Stout of Riverside won third place, for a 50-pound, gold Raider-eating wahoo.

Doug Blalock of Whittier had a good ten-day trip aboard the Spirit of Adventure with owner-skipper Mike Keating. At the H&M scales October 29, he won first place for a wahoo. He won second place for a wahoo. He won third place for a wahoo.
